Assistant Manager (Operations & Health & Safety Lead)

We’re dedicated to delivering exceptional visitor experiences—and that starts with how we operate behind the scenes.
We’re now looking for a confident and capable Assistant Manager who will play a pivotal role in both day-to-day operations and leading Health & Safety across the organisation.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, supporting all areas of the business including the Main Attraction, Retail Outlets, E-Commerce, The Peter Rabbit Café, and Rebel & Rose.
Alongside operational management, you will take ownership of Health & Safety as the organisation’s key officer, ensuring policies, procedures, and compliance are always up to date and embedded across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership (Core Focus)
Act as the organisation’s lead Health & Safety Officer
Ensure all policies, procedures, and risk assessments are current, compliant, and effectively implemented
Regularly review and update documentation in line with legislation and best practice
Promote a proactive safety culture across all departments
Conduct checks, audit, and ensure ongoing compliance
Operations Management
Oversee the day-to-day running of the attraction and associated departments
Ensure smooth, efficient operations across all areas of the business
Manage daily cash handling processes including banking, refunds, and reconciliation
Team Leadership
Support recruitment, training, and development alongside the Team Leader
Lead, motivate, and manage staff performance
Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed
Customer Experience
Maintain exceptional customer service standards across all areas
Resolve customer queries and issues professionally and efficiently
Organisation & Delegation
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure high standards are met
Support ongoing staff coaching and development
In the absence of the Chief Operating Officer, you will step into a leadership role and oversee operations.
About You
Essential:
Management experience in a similar environment or a senior supervisory role
Strong understanding of Health & Safety compliance, with experience maintaining policies and risk assessments
Confident communicator with strong organisational skills
Competent with IT systems and administrative processes
Desirable:
Formal Health & Safety qualification (but training can be done)
Knowledge of QLab, lighting desks, or sound systems
